Masters Thesis Title: “Quantification of prokaryotic gene expression in shallow marine subsurface sediments of Aarhus Bay, Denmark.”

After FSU: Mike now works in the Epidemic Investigation Laboratory Unit in CDC's National Center for Zoonotic, Viral, and Enteric Diseases. He is working on diagnostic and molecular microbiology related to mostly foodborne outbreaks. He is also working on global health collaborations concentrating on surveillance of childhood enteric disease as well as field-deployable rapid diagnostic tests for global disease detection. He is interested in exploring the relationship between the microbial ecology and human disease.
