The Kostka laboratory combines cutting-edge biogeochemistry with molecular biology to quantify the role of microorganisms in global biogeochemical cycles.  Our research is heavily field oriented and spans from coastal marine ecosystems (estuaries/marshes, tidal flats, seagrass beds, continental shelf) to the terrestrial subsurface. Projects include the biogeochemical cycles of natural and contaminated environments.
